The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has publicly bestowed his blessings upon Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr. Prempeh, affectionately known as ‘Napo’, respectfully knelt before Otumfuo, who is his grandfather, as the King offered him encouraging words.
This significant event took place during the historic ‘Akwasidae’ festival, celebrated in London, United Kingdom, in honor of the Asantehene’s 25th anniversary on the throne last week.
Napo, who attended the cultural celebration, had sought Otumfuo’s blessings as he and Dr. Bawumia, his superior, aim to lead the NPP to victory in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Dressed elegantly in ‘Kente’ cloth adorned with gold accessories, the Asantehene graciously accepted his grandson’s request and invited Napo to receive his blessings.
Earlier, Napo expressed that the NPP holds deep admiration, respect, and gratitude for the Asantehene and all traditional leaders in the nation for their vital contributions to the country’s development.
He elaborated that he has been visiting various chief palaces across the nation to seek their blessings and wise counsel, recognizing the pivotal role of chiefs in securing the nation’s progress.
