DR. BAWUMIA JOINS THE GA MASHIE CHIEFS AND THE PEOPLE TO CELEBRATE THE HOMOWO FESTIVAL

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana and the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), joined the chiefs and people of Ga Mashie yesterday to celebrate the annual Homowo festival. This is a significant cultural event that marks the end of the traditional famine and the beginning of the harvest season. The festival, known for its rich cultural heritage, was a vibrant display of the Ga people’s history, traditions, and unity.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Dr. Bawumia expressed his delight at being part of the festivities, highlighting the importance of the event in strengthening familial and friendly ties within the community.

I joined the chiefs and people of Ga Mashie to celebrate the Homowo festival yesterday. It was a beautiful display of culture, accompanied by a renewal of familial and friendly ties. Ghana indeed has a heritage worth celebrating

The Homowo festival, celebrated with traditional songs, dances, and the sprinkling of “kpokpoi” (a traditional Ga dish) to signify the end of hunger, drew a large crowd of locals and visitors alike. The Vice President’s presence was warmly received by the chiefs and people of Ga Mashie, as he participated in the cultural rites and festivities that symbolize the resilience and unity of the Ga people.

Dr. Bawumia also extended his best wishes to the Ga people for the coming year, expressing hope for a prosperous and fulfilling year ahead
