Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has expressed confidence that Ghanaians will reject John Mahama’s presidential bid due to his unsatisfactory performance during his previous tenure.
During his visit to the Ayensuano constituency, Dr. Bawumia highlighted that the 2024 election is a choice between himself and Mahama, asserting that Mahama’s legacy does not merit another opportunity to lead the country.
Dr. Bawumia pointed out Mahama’s alleged shortcomings, such as erratic power supply, high youth unemployment, and the removal of teacher and nursing training allowances, which he believes Ghanaians should not have to endure again.
In contrast, he praised the NPP government’s accomplishments, including the introduction of free senior high school education, reinstatement of teacher and nursing training allowances, advancements in digitization, the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative, and the one constituency, one ambulance program, among others.
While interacting with residents of Kraboa-Coaltar, where he introduced the parliamentary candidate, Ida Adjoa Asirdu, Dr. Bawumia reiterated his policies, which include investments in agriculture, enhancing the chieftaincy institution to support government development goals, job creation, and reducing electricity costs through solar energy investments.
He expressed his desire to continue the positive work of the NPP government if elected.
Dr. Bawumia criticized Mahama’s presidency, citing issues like difficulties in accessing chalk in schools, the cancellation of training allowances, and challenges in job creation.
He reminded the audience of Mahama’s losses in the 2016 and 2020 elections and expressed confidence that he will be defeated again in 2024.
Dr. Bawumia compared the achievements of the NPP and the NDC, asserting that the NPP has outperformed the NDC and believing that Ghanaians will recognize this and vote for him to continue the NPP’s progress.
Finally, he urged residents to vote for Ida Adjoa Asirdu on December 7th to elect her as the next MP for the area.
