DR. BAWUMIA URGES AFRICAN LEADERS TO PRIORITIZE CITIZEN EMPOWERMENT

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called upon African leaders and governments to prioritize the empowerment of citizens through education and the provision of quality healthcare to enhance overall well-being.

He emphasized the importance of fostering free enterprise and safeguarding individual liberties, as well as advancing digitalization to ensure transparent and efficient governance, alongside promoting closer collaboration among nations.

Dr. Bawumia made these remarks in a Facebook post following his role as Special Guest at the Democratic Union of Africa (DUA) Annual Forum, which took place in Accra on Friday.

As African nations endeavor to solidify democracy across the continent, he highlighted the critical connection between democracy, the rule of law, and economic progress.

He noted that democracy and the rule of law establish a framework in which individual freedoms are upheld, innovation can flourish, and economic activities can thrive.

I urged African leaders and governments to work towards citizen empowerment through education, quality healthcare for general well-being, promotion of free enterprise and individual liberties, digitalization for transparent and efficient governance, and closer cooperation.

Together, we can make democracy the by-word in Africa.
