$2BILLION SECURED FOR CAPE COAST AIRPORT PROJECT – DR. BAWUMIA REVEALS

Cape Coast is poised to establish its own International Airport, as announced by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who revealed that $2 billion has been allocated for this initiative.

Dr. Bawumia stated that the Cape Coast Airport project will come to fruition if he is elected as President in the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7.

During his speech at the party’s manifesto launch held at the Ghana Secondary Technical School in Takoradi, he assured a lively audience that his administration would ensure the complete construction and operational readiness of the Cape Coast Airport.

While there are differing opinions among Ghanaians regarding the necessity of an airport in Cape Coast, particularly given the numerous tourist attractions leading to the picturesque coastal area, the Vice President emphasized that the airport would facilitate smoother transportation for businesses and other significant activities in the region.

Dr. Bawumia disclosed that a $2 billion investment has been secured from Korean investors to initiate the development of the airport promptly.

He highlighted the critical need for expanding public infrastructure and outlined his government’s vision for transforming Ghana’s aviation sector. Recognizing the country’s challenges with maintenance practices, Dr. Bawumia committed to promoting the establishment of a private-sector-driven Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Tamale Airport, aiming to position it as a hub for aviation cargo, horticultural cargo, and logistics.

In addition to the Cape Coast Airport project, Dr. Bawumia also pledged to construct a new airport in the Upper East Region, further illustrating his dedication to improving Ghana’s aviation infrastructure and fostering economic development throughout the nation.
