Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed confidence to party members regarding their governance record, asserting that it significantly surpasses that of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, John Dramani Mahama.
During the party’s manifesto launch held in the Western Region on Sunday, August 18, Dr. Bawumia urged NPP supporters to take pride in the party’s accomplishments as they gear up for the 2024 elections.
He highlighted the NPP administration’s significant progress in various sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, and digital innovation.
Noteworthy initiatives such as the Free Senior High School program, the One District One Factory project, and the digitalization of public services were presented as evidence of the NPP’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia asserted that these successes serve to illustrate the party’s superior governance compared to the opposition. He also referenced the NPP’s management of the economy during global challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and increasing inflation, as a testament to the party’s resilience and capability to navigate the nation through difficult periods.
Despite facing economic challenges, he remarked that the NPP government has persistently pursued policies designed to mitigate hardship and foster recovery.
In contrast, he criticized the NDC for not delivering on commitments made during their tenure, particularly regarding issues such as power shortages and economic instability—challenges that the NPP has effectively addressed.
He encouraged NPP members to emphasize these achievements while engaging with voters in the lead-up to the elections. Dr. Bawumia concluded by advocating for unity and commitment within the party as they prepare for the 2024 elections, urging all members to stay focused and dedicated to achieving victory for the NPP.
Ladies and Gentlemen, if there was any doubt, I believe it is crystal clear from the data-backed account we have given that our overall performance and track record are superior to that of my opponent and his party in virtually every sector! But, I believe as a former president and a proud student of history, he knows that and that is one part of the reason why he is avoiding a debate.
The other part, of course, is about the courage and confidence to put what he intends to do differently this time around with the power he seeks, side by side with the vision I have for Ghana and the clear roadmap to getting the work done. That is the choice we are presenting to, you, the Ghanaian voter on December 7.
