DR. BAWUMIA’S STRATEGY TO TRAIN 1 MILLION YOUTH FOR DIGITAL JOBS: A PATH TO PROSPERITY – AKBAR YUSSIF ROHULLAH

On the Good Evening Ghana show with Paul Adom Otchere, Akbar Yussif Rohullah, Vice Presidential Aide, outlined a critical component of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s agenda for Ghana’s future—digital skills development.

According to Rohullah, the next NPP government under the leadership of Dr. Bawumia plans to train 1 million young people in digital jobs within the next four years, positioning Ghana to benefit from the rapidly growing digital economy.

Drawing on insights from an International Finance Corporation (IFC) report, Rohullah discussed how Africa is poised to create 230 million digital jobs by 2030, with Ghana having the potential to secure a substantial share of these opportunities. He emphasized that this would require urgent and strategic investment in digital education and skills training.

The next NPP government under Dr. Bawumia will prioritize digital skills development, ensuring that our youth are ready to compete globally. This is a key commitment that will drive economic growth and job creation

He noted that the Ministry of Communication has already laid the groundwork for this initiative, but the next phase under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership will involve scaling these efforts nationwide. The goal is to prepare Ghanaian youth for the digital job market, ensuring they are competitive both locally and globally.

Rohullah highlighted that the IFC report estimates digitization could bring $130 billion in economic value to Africa by 2030, with Ghana expected to gain up to $4 billion. This underscores the importance of Dr. Bawumia’s focus on digital skills as a key driver of economic growth and job creation.

Only the NPP, with Dr. Bawumia at the helm, has a clear and actionable plan to harness these opportunities. We are committed to leading Ghana into a new era of prosperity
