IT’S ‘SENSELESS’ TO CRITICIZE THE FREE SHS DOUBLE TRACK SYSTEM AND PROPOSE A 24-HOUR ECONOMY – YEFRI CHIEF

Nana Takyi Poku Gyimah, Chief of Yefri in the Nkoranza North Constituency of the Bono East Region, has criticized those who have disparaged the double track system implemented during the early stages of the Free SHS initiative.

He labeled the criticisms as unfounded and irrational, especially given that the same critics are now advocating for a 24-hour economy proposal.

The Chief, a prominent educationist with the Ghana Education Service, explained that the Free SHS policy led to a significant increase in school enrollment, prompting the government to devise a creative solution to manage the increased demand. This led to the introduction of the double track system as a means to optimize the use of limited resources.

Nana Takyi made these comments when NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh visited him at his palace on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Despite the system’s utility, critics derided the double track system, suggesting it reflected poor planning by policymakers. These same critics are now proposing a 24-hour economy where citizens would work around the clock with a shift system.

According to the Chief, it is perplexing that those who failed to recognize the value of the double-track system are now leading the push for a 24-hour economy.

It is no wonder they have yet to provide a clear explanation of what they mean by a 24-hour economy,

The Chief also praised the NPP government for its contributions to the development of his area. He commended Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the party’s 2024 running mate, for his courage and leadership in implementing the Free SHS policy and the double track system. He noted that such bold actions are essential for addressing the country’s challenges.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh expressed his gratitude to the Chief for acknowledging the NPP government’s achievements and urged him and his community to continue supporting the NPP. He encouraged support for Dr. Bawumia’s visionary solutions and called for a strong vote for both Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the party’s parliamentary candidate for Nkoranza North, Jacqueline Boatemaa Bonsu.
