DR. BAWUMIA’S ONE-TEACHER-ONE-LAPTOP PROGRAMME: A GAME-CHANGER FOR EDUCATION IN GHANA

The One-Teacher-One-Laptop Programme, a visionary initiative spearheaded by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has now provided teachers and non-teaching staff across the Ghana Education Service (GES) with vital digital tools.

This groundbreaking programme marks a significant advancement in enhancing educational delivery through technology, ensuring that educators from kindergarten through senior high schools are equipped with the latest laptops.

The programme, executed by KA Technologies in partnership with GES, delivers laptops to educators at all levels, including those on study leave and non-teaching staff. This nationwide effort includes not only the supply of laptops but also comprehensive training and distribution, demonstrating a commitment to bridging the digital divide between urban and rural areas.

In a press release dated Sunday, September 1, 2024, KA Technologies proudly announced the launch of their 24/7 Aftercare Centers across the country, which will provide ongoing customer and technical support. The company’s user-friendly Katcare App further enhances the experience by allowing educators to book repair services and purchase laptop accessories with ease.

Launched by Dr. Bawumia in September 2021, the programme aims to enhance teaching and learning outcomes in pre-tertiary institutions nationwide. With the government covering 70 percent of the laptop cost and teachers contributing the remaining 30 percent, this initiative underscores a shared dedication to educational excellence and technological progress.
