MY ‘BUY GHANA FIRST’ INITIATIVE WILL PROMOTE LOCALLY MADE PRODUCT TO STRENGTHEN OUR DOMESTIC INDUSTRY

The flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has elaborated on his new initiative known as “Buy Ghana First,” which he plans to implement upon assuming the presidency in 2025.

During a meeting with community stakeholders in the Okaikoi Central Constituency in Accra on Wednesday, Dr. Bawumia clarified that the objective of the Buy Ghana First policy is to encourage support and patronage for local industries and the private sector.

I hear we are currently buying school uniforms from China. That will not happen under the ‘Buy Ghana First’ policy…We will also ensure that furniture for schools are not imported from other countries.

Whatever we can buy from Ghana, we will buy them here to help boost our local industry, the private and create more jobs for our people.

Dr. Bawumia took the opportunity to articulate his vision and policies to an audience that included members of the clergy, imams, traditional leaders, traders, and community members, among others.

Among the policies he detailed was his flagship new tax initiative, which proposes a tax amnesty for businesses and the implementation of a flat tax rate. He also emphasized the enhancement of the “good for oil” policy, the introduction of solar energy solutions to reduce power costs, and the deployment of electric buses to alleviate transportation expenses.

Additionally, he proposed a new mining framework aimed at empowering small-scale miners while ensuring responsible mining practices, as well as training one million youth in information and communication technology (ICT) for digital employment opportunities both locally and internationally, among other initiatives.

Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia underscored the policies he advocated for during his tenure as Vice President, asserting that they have had a substantial positive impact on the nation.

Having demonstrated his dedication and capability in this role, he called upon Ghanaians to support his candidacy in the upcoming general elections in December.
