I WILL ESTABLISH A WOMEN’S TRADE EMPOWERMENT FUND—BAWUMIA

The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced that his administration will establish a Women’s Trade Empowerment Fund and a Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) bank to facilitate easier access to funding for traders.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted that securing funding is a major challenge for traders and SMEs in Ghana. His government is committed to creating a supportive environment and providing financial solutions to help these businesses succeed.

The NPP government is introducing a new initiative to assist both men and women in business. We want to support you. We understand that your biggest obstacle is obtaining funding. Isn’t that correct?… You need financial resources to enhance your business. Without funding, you can’t advance your trade. So, we are proposing policies, including the Women’s Trade Empowerment Fund, to support women and businesses,

He made this announcement at the Kaneshie Market in Accra on Wednesday during a campaign tour of the Okaikwei South constituency in the Greater Accra Region.

Dr. Bawumia also interacted with traders and stakeholders, including clergy, imams, chiefs, and opinion leaders, to discuss his vision for the nation if elected as President in the December 7 election.

During the ‘meet-and-greet’ sessions, Dr. Bawumia visited homes, street corners, and market stalls, shaking hands with ordinary people, who greeted him with enthusiasm.

He reiterated his commitment to improving the living conditions of Ghanaians through innovative measures if he takes office in 2025.

He outlined plans to introduce a credit scoring system for access to affordable loans, duty-free mobile phones, a new tax regime at the port, and a tax amnesty in 2025.

The theme for the constituency-focused campaign tour was “Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for Our Future.”
