Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called upon Ghanaians to support the party’s flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming elections.
He emphasized that electing Dr. Bawumia is essential for Ghana to remain competitive in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Ahiagbah elaborated that the Fourth Industrial Revolution represents a significant milestone in human development, characterized by breakthroughs in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), Web3, blockchain technology, 3D printing, genetic engineering, and quantum computing, among others.
He further stated that the 2024 election presents an opportunity to select a leader capable of guiding Ghana to thrive alongside the global advancements.
If you are a young, middle-class, independent, and objective voter, you must carefully weigh your choice of who to vote for on December 7th because our collective advance, or the lack thereof, depends on the vote you cast.
So, let’s vote for Bawumia because he will make Ghana competitive and ensure we keep pace with the rest of the world. Bawumia means business.
Recently, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia addressed allegations from his critics regarding his perceived neglect of economic issues, asserting that the digitalization initiative will enhance the Ghanaian economy.
He emphasized that true economic transformation is unattainable without leveraging the digital infrastructure that characterizes the modern era to address societal challenges.
During a media event at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra, Dr. Bawumia maintained that digitalization and economic development are interconnected, highlighting the evident correlation between the two.
I wrote a book on monetary policy and financial reform and I made a point in the book, this was in 2010, this was 14 years ago before I became vice president, made the point that Africa needs to go digital because the global economy is going digital.
And if countries stay behind, they’ll miss out on the fourth Industrial Revolution as we missed out on the other revolutions. And there’s a good reason, because digitalization allows us to formalize our economy. Informal economies are very difficult to manage.
He emphasized that digital identity is central to the fourth digital revolution, a concept he claims to have advocated for throughout his tenure as vice-president.
The current vice-president has faced criticism for his reluctance to address economic issues, a subject he passionately engaged with during his campaign alongside President Akufo-Addo in 2016.
