The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, presented his nomination papers to the Electoral Commission in Accra on Monday, September 9.
Dr. Bawumia expressed that the submission of these forms held significant historical importance for him.
For me, it is a very historic opportunity to submit these forms for the first time as a presidential candidate. I want to pray for God’s blessings for our dear country Ghana.
Dr. Bawumia was joined by his Running Mate and Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, along with the Party’s National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, and several other leaders of the NPP.
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, provided assurances that the procedures for filing and auditing the presidential nomination forms submitted by the candidates will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
In a similar vein, she stated that the procedure for conducting the general elections will be characterized by peace, transparency, and fairness. Following the receipt of the forms, she remarked.
We have no doubt that the process will be transparent, fair, and peaceful.
Indeed this is the first time a sitting Vice President has personally presented his nomination forms to the EC.
