The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has committed to reinstating the car waiver for medical professionals, specifically doctors and nurses, should he be elected into office.
Dr. Bawumia also mentioned that he is currently engaging with representatives from the Ministry of Health to resolve issues related to the timely disbursement of allowances for nursing trainees.
He made these remarks while speaking to nurses and midwives at the Teshie Nursing and Midwifery Training School during his tour of the Greater Accra Region.
One of the things that you will see is that the former President when he was President took away the car import duty waiver, you remember that? I am bringing it back for all nurses, the car import duty waiver is coming back for all nurses, and well am looking at ways to improve the conditions of those posted in the rural areas.
The flag bearer recognized the postponement in the disbursement of allowances for trainee nurses and assured that the matter would be resolved.
We are working with the Ministry of Finance to make sure you don’t have delays, so I am hoping that we eliminate these issues of delays very soon for all of you.
He expressed satisfaction regarding the quantity of medical doctors appointed to the health sector.
