Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has warned that Ghana would face dire consequences if former President Mahama were to be re-elected.
The National Youth Wing asserts that during his presidency, John Mahama, along with Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who served as Education Minister in the previous NDC administration, implemented policies detrimental to the development of the youth.
While addressing a press conference in the Upper East region, the NPP Youth Organizer highlighted the abolition of the teacher trainee allowance among other actions he considers indicative of John Mahama’s inadequate leadership.
Salam Mustapha aimed to undermine John Mahama’s candidacy by referencing the 2016 electoral defeat as a clear indication of the public’s judgment regarding his time in office.
But, ask yourselves, from Kwame Nkrumah to Akufo-Addo, how come John Dramani Mahama was the only leader in our nation’s history who was rejected by Ghanaian voters when he went for re-election? Indeed, ask yourself how come he has been rejected twice since Ghanaians tasted him both as a vice president and as president?
He inherited an oil rich economy, and without any global crisis to deal with he created his own crisis . . . schools did not even have common chalk! The situation was hopeless. The leader himself, was rudderless and inept.
We witnessed his shambolic performance as President which saw your parents losing their jobs or customers because of dumsor. Yes, four years of President John Mahama was four years of dumsor.
She supervised the cancellation of the teacher training allowance, forced universities to pay their own utilities, and could not provide common chalk for basic schools.
He therefore advised the youth of Ghana against casting their votes for John Mahama and Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, asserting that this pair represents a threat to the nation’s future and a bleak outlook for the youth, who should be equipped for the fourth industrial revolution.
