Togbega Abutia Kodzo Gidi V, the Paramount Chief of the Abutia Traditional Area and President of the Abutia Traditional Council in the Volta Region, has commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for driving development in his community.
Speaking candidly, he emphasized that his area has seen significant transformation over the past 25 years, largely due to NPP administrations, and expressed his deep gratitude to the party for prioritizing the development of Abutia.
He noted that it’s not just the current government under President Nana Akufo-Addo that has contributed to this progress, but also the previous administration led by John Agyekum Kufuor, which executed key projects in the community.
Yes, it’s true that over the last 25 years, the NPP has done well for Abutia,
Togbega Kodzo Gidi V affirmed during a visit by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as ‘Napo’, the NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, to his palace on Sunday.
The chief stressed that his positive assessment of the NPP government’s contributions to his area is based on facts, and he’s not concerned about potential media debates that may arise in the coming days.
I know these factual comments may spark media debates that Togbega said this, but I’m not worried because I’m speaking the truth. The facts are clear. Abutia has benefited greatly from the NPP over the last 25 years, and we are very thankful.
Praising the NPP further for its loyalty and commitment to the development of Abutia, he emphasized,
This is not about politics,
pointing out that all NPP administrations have been dedicated to supporting his traditional area.
During the visit, Napo paid homage to Togbega Kodzo Gidi V and congratulated him on his 25 years as leader. He was accompanied by NPP stalwart Madam Elizabeth Ohene, his campaign team, and other party members.
Special Prayers for Napo
Togbega Kodzo Gidi V, impressed with Napo’s service in government, offered prayers for Napo’s success in becoming Vice President on December 7, 2024.
My prayer is that you ascend to the Vice Presidency,
the chief assured Napo, adding that Napo is considered part of the Abutia community and should remember the area when his aspirations come to fruition.
Advice to NPP Members
The chief also cautioned NPP members against complacency and urged them to unite and work diligently to retain power.
Your party members should work hard, unite as one family, and avoid internal conflict and backbiting,
he advised.
He further encouraged the NPP to adopt a house-to-house campaign strategy to effectively communicate the government’s achievements to voters, adding,
Mobilize your base to ensure victory.
Madam Elizabeth Ohene, a native of Abutia, also called on the people of the Volta Region to show appreciation for the NPP’s commitment to the area by voting in large numbers for Dr. Bawumia on December 7.
