The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has praised the government’s efforts to support cocoa farmers, calling them unmatched in Ghana’s history.
He pointed out that the price of a bag of cocoa has skyrocketed from GH¢475 to GH¢3,000 under the NPP administration, underscoring the impact of this increase on the livelihoods of cocoa producers.
At a stakeholder engagement event in the Wassa East constituency, Dr. Bawumia highlighted that the rising cocoa prices demonstrate the NPP government’s steadfast commitment to improving the agricultural sector.
He emphasized the significance of cocoa farming to Ghana’s economy, noting that it is the backbone of the nation’s agricultural sector.
The Vice President recognized the essential role cocoa farmers play in the economy and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enacting policies that empower and support them.
He expressed that the significant rise in cocoa prices is crucial for enhancing the financial stability of these farmers.
