NAPO: BAWUMIA GOVERNMENT TO PROMOTE RESPONSIBLE SMALL-SCALE MINING

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, NPP Vice Presidential candidate, has assured Ghanaians that a Bawumia-led government will not impose a ban on small-scale mining.

During a campaign rally in the Manso Adubia constituency in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, October 8, NAPO emphasized the NPP’s commitment to supporting small-scale miners by encouraging responsible mining practices and helping them grow their operations.

He assured the audience, which included community members and party supporters, that the NPP recognizes the important role small-scale mining plays in the livelihoods of many Ghanaians and its contribution to the national economy.

NAPO clarified that the NPP’s focus is on differentiating responsible, regulated small-scale mining from the harmful activities of illegal mining, commonly known as “galamsey.”

He reiterated that the next NPP government will prioritize providing miners with the resources and education necessary to operate within the law while protecting the environment.

As part of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign pledges, NAPO also stressed that new measures will be introduced to promote responsible mining, equipping miners with the knowledge and tools to engage in environmentally friendly practices and comply with regulations.

He urged miners to partner with the government in tackling illegal mining and protecting the country’s natural resources, stating that with the right backing, small-scale miners can succeed and play a key role in Ghana’s growth.

A government led by Dr. Bawumia will support mining, but it will be done in a responsible manner. While we cannot halt mining activities, we will make sure it doesn’t harm our water bodies and forests. We will equip Ghanaians with the tools necessary for responsible mining.
