STOP DOING NDC BIDDING – SALAM MUSTAPHA TO ORGANIZED LABOUR

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has raised alarming allegations regarding the recent activities of Organized Labour, asserting that their threats of a national strike and vocal opposition to illegal mining, known as galamsey, are politically driven and in alignment with the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) strategy for the 2024 elections.

In a statement, Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the NPP, disclosed that a confidential document entitled “Winning 2024 And Beyond” has been leaked, indicating the NDC’s intention to leverage significant issues such as galamsey for electoral advantage.

Mustapha has expressed skepticism about Organized Labour’s newfound focus on galamsey, pointing out their prolonged silence on the matter despite the government’s initiatives to combat illegal mining.

He further noted that the government under President Akufo-Addo has implemented robust measures against galamsey, including the introduction of stricter legislation and the prosecution of individuals like Aisha Huang, who engaged in illegal activities during the Mahama administration.

Mustapha underscores that Organized Labour’s selective disregard for these governmental efforts and their recent activism implies a politically motivated agenda.

We call on all well-meaning Ghanaians and members of the various unions under Organised Labour to reject any attempt to politicize the fight against galamsey.

This is a national issue that transcends party politics. The future of our environment, livelihoods, and communities depends on us coming together to fight illegal mining as one united front.
