AFRAM PLAINS CHIEFS AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS BACK NPP

Chiefs and religious leaders in the Afram Plains of the Eastern Region have decided to alter their voting behavior for the upcoming elections on December 7, 2024.

This decision stems from their belief that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party they have consistently supported, has made minimal contributions to improving their living standards.

They noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has demonstrated a strong dedication to addressing their developmental needs, despite facing unfavorable electoral results.

During a durbar held in Donkorkrom on October 9, 2024, to welcome Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and his team, various community leaders, including chiefs, religious figures, and representatives from identifiable groups, highlighted several social initiatives and infrastructure projects implemented by the NPP in their area, which they believe surpass the achievements of the NDC.

Community leaders such as Nana Akuamoa Boateng Tano II, the chief of Atakora; Alhaji Fuseini Osman, Chief Imam of Donkorkrom; and Rev. Dr. Caleb Daribi, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches in Afram Plains, collectively remarked that despite their substantial support for the NDC over the past 32 years, the region has experienced limited advancement under their governance.

They expressed their appreciation to the ruling NPP, citing various initiatives such as the digitization of public services, Free Senior High School (SHS) education, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Agenda 111, electricity expansion projects, ongoing road construction, and the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP) machinery, all of which have significantly benefited the community.

Consequently, they urged residents to cast their votes in favor of the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as the party’s parliamentary candidates for the Afram Plains North and South constituencies, Asiamah Anim and Jacob Zineyele, respectively, to ensure the continuation of these positive developments.

He stated that even if the Member of Parliament had utilized her entire common funds accumulated over 20 years, it would still fall short of the cost required to purchase a single DRIP machine.

Known widely as NAPO, he reflected on his time as Energy Minister, during which he facilitated the provision of electricity to 35 communities within the Afram Plains region, along with various other infrastructure initiatives carried out by the NPP government.

He urged the residents of Afram Plains to place their trust in the NPP during the upcoming elections on December 7 and assured them that the NPP would fulfill its commitments to them.
