The Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South Constituency, Samuel Atta Akyea, has expressed his disapproval of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of disconnecting from political realities and depending on spiritual gatherings for support.
During a visit to Asiakwa as part of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate tour, Atta Akyea asserted that the NDC has strayed from its foundational political base and is now seeking comfort in religious prophecies.
He dismissed recent forecasts from religious figures predicting an NDC victory in the 2024 elections, characterizing them as mere human conjectures rather than genuine divine insights.
Atta Akyea urged the public to trust in the democratic process, highlighting that elections are determined by the will of the populace rather than spiritual declarations.
He encouraged Ghanaians to prioritize critical national issues such as the economy, education, and infrastructure when making political choices. The MP criticized the opposition for depending on spiritual interventions instead of offering clear and actionable plans for the nation’s future.
He also targeted a prophet who had previously insulted former President John Mahama but is now proclaiming an NDC victory, questioning the credibility of such prophecies and suggesting they are misleading and politically driven.
Atta Akyea concluded by reminding Ghanaians that while spiritual leaders are entitled to their views, democracy fundamentally revolves around the choices made by voters. He urged the electorate to base their decisions on policies rather than spiritual influences in the forthcoming elections.
Elections are determined by the people’s votes, not by the words of prophets. The democratic process remains the legitimate way to choose our leaders.
