Thousands of residents in Wenchi braved the rain and waited for more than eight hours to extend a warm welcome to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as he wrapped up his tour of the Bono Region on Sunday evening.
The rally began to gain traction around 3:00 PM, attracting crowds from all corners of the town, undeterred by the inclement weather. Supporters filled the streets, adorned in party colors and waving flags, eager to listen to Dr. Bawumia, who had spent the day campaigning in the Banda and Tain Constituencies.
Upon addressing the audience, Dr. Bawumia was met with enthusiastic chants and songs. The Vice President delivered a passionate speech targeting former President John Dramani Mahama.
Dr. Bawumia accused the former leader of mismanaging critical sectors of the economy during his administration from 2012 to 2017, eliciting applause from the energized crowd.
The event in Wenchi marked the conclusion of Dr. Bawumia’s tour of the Bono Region, which commenced the previous week. This tour is part of the NPP’s strategy to mobilize support in anticipation of the 2024 elections, with Wenchi reaffirming its significance as a key battleground.
The display of solidarity in Wenchi indicates renewed optimism for the NPP in regaining its parliamentary seat, with parliamentary candidate Kojo Frimpong collaborating with Dr. Bawumia to rally support.
