ALLOW NPP AN ADDITIONAL FOUR YEARS TO REVITALIZE THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR – ADUTWUM

Minister for Education Yaw Osei Adutwum has earnestly urged Ghanaians to grant the New Patriotic Party (NPP) an additional four years to finalize its transformative agenda for the educational sector.

During his address at the ongoing African Skill Summit, Adutwum underscored the necessity for continuity in the government’s innovative initiatives designed to revolutionize Technical and Vocational Education and Training (T-VET).

He asserted that Ghana’s T-VET sector must undergo a fundamental shift from merely repairing imported equipment to innovating and producing its tools and machinery.

Adutwum referenced Germany’s successful T-VET model, which emphasizes innovation and practical training, as a standard for Ghana to emulate.

The Minister stressed the significance of integrating STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with practical training to facilitate transformation.

He pointed out that the existing T-VET system, often viewed as suitable only for those lacking academic inclination, requires a comprehensive overhaul.

To this end, Mr. Yaw Adutwum announced plans to introduce technical courses in prestigious institutions such as Opoku Ware and Wesley Girls, aiming to challenge the perception that technical education is inferior.

He also highlighted the necessity for effective marketing strategies to promote T-VET programs and attract a larger student body. Under the NPP administration, considerable progress has been made in enhancing access to education, including the rollout of free senior high school education.

Yaw Adutwum, who was instrumental in this initiative, contends that an additional four years are essential to solidify these achievements and complete the educational sector’s transformation.
