DR. BAWUMIA IS SET TO LAUNCH GHANA’S INAUGURAL DIGITAL MUSIC STREAMING PLATFORM IN NOVEMBER

The government is set to introduce Ghana’s inaugural digital music streaming platform for musicians, film producers, and content creators in November of this year.

This initiative has been made possible through a partnership between the government and key organizations, including the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMBRO), the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), and local music producers.

The platform will serve as a means to monitor, collect, and distribute royalties and revenues, while also providing opportunities for Ghanaian musicians, film producers, and content creators.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party, made this announcement during a meeting with stakeholders in the arts and creative sector in Accra on Wednesday.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized his dedication to fostering local talent within the arts and creative industries to generate employment for the youth. He stated that, if elected, he would facilitate specialized financing and provide guarantees for musicians and content creators through the Development Bank of Ghana to enhance their endeavors.

Additionally, Dr. Bawumia committed to establishing the National Hospitality Training School to equip individuals with professional skills for the tourism sector. Regarding visa processes, the NPP presidential candidate assured that his administration would prioritize the implementation of electronic visas (e-visas) for international visitors to Ghana.

He noted that this initiative would significantly increase tourist arrivals and enhance the country’s foreign revenue. Dr. Bawumia also promised that his government would focus on completing the conference facility at the Ghana International Trade Fair site.

Furthermore, he indicated that his administration would introduce tax incentives aimed at accelerating growth within the creative industry.
