Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has committed to enhancing local manufacturing through his Buy Ghana First initiative, which he asserts will revitalize domestic industries such as Juapong Textiles.
During his campaign tour in the Volta Region, Dr. Bawumia interacted with various stakeholders, including traditional leaders, religious figures, and Imams in Juapong, located in the North Tongu Constituency.
In his speech, Dr. Bawumia clarified that this policy will be legislated, mandating that all consumables required by the country be sourced primarily from local producers.
He emphasized that importation would only be permitted when local manufacturers are unable to meet the demand for their products. Dr. Bawumia highlighted that Juapong Textiles stands to gain significantly from these policies, which aim to restore its operational capacity.
The acting Paramount Chief of Juapong, Togbe Kokroko Ananse Titriku III, expressed his support, along with that of his community, for Dr. Bawumia.
He conveyed optimism that Dr. Bawumia’s leadership will foster development in North Tongu and the broader Volta Region.
