I’LL ESTABLISH MECHANISATION CENTRES IN EVERY DISTRICT TO BOOST AGRICULTURE – BAWUMIA SAYS

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has unveiled plans to revolutionize Ghana’s agricultural sector by establishing district mechanization centers in every district across the country. This initiative, he explained, will be central to his administration’s strategy for addressing the needs and challenges of farmers if elected in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Juapong, Volta Region, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the longstanding difficulties faced by farmers require immediate attention. He expressed his commitment to providing essential support and resources to help farmers expand their operations and increase productivity.

The NPP presidential candidate highlighted the significant role agriculture plays in Ghana’s economy and the livelihoods of millions of citizens.

Dr. Bawumia also underscored the importance of modernizing the sector through improved irrigation systems, particularly in regions vulnerable to drought and irregular rainfall. He noted that many farmers still depend on rain-fed agriculture, which leaves them exposed to unpredictable weather patterns and the impacts of climate change. To combat this, he pledged to prioritize irrigation infrastructure development, ensuring farmers can grow crops throughout the year.

“We are going to help the farmers. I want to focus on agriculture. Our farmers need help. They need irrigation. They need equipment. They need tractors. They need combined harvesters. They need planters. I am going to set up a district mechanization centre in every district in Ghana. Our farmers will have the equipment to farm,” he stated.
