THE GHANA CARD WILL SERVE AS THE PRIMARY DOCUMENT FOR PASSPORT APPLICATIONS IF ELECTED-BAWUMIA

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his commitment to simplifying Ghana’s passport application process by making the Ghana Card a key document for verification.

Dr. Bawumia presented this proposal during a campaign event in the Nkwanta North constituency, outlining his vision for a more efficient public service system.

He stressed that using the Ghana Card as the main source for passport applications would streamline procedures, minimizing delays and bureaucratic hurdles.

He believes this digital approach will not only enhance accessibility but also improve government efficiency across various sectors.

Despite facing criticism for focusing on digitalization while ignoring Ghana’s immediate economic challenges, Dr. Bawumia remains firm on the importance of a digital-first agenda.

He argues that digitalization is crucial for Ghana’s long-term growth, as it fosters more transparent, reliable, and accessible systems for all citizens.

During his campaign stop in Nkwanta North in the Oti Region on Monday, October 28, Dr. Bawumia explained that technological advancements aim to enhance the daily experiences of Ghanaians.

He highlighted the passport application process as an area that could significantly benefit from reduced paperwork and faster processing times through digital innovation.

The NPP flagbearer further emphasized that his government would prioritize such initiatives if elected, viewing them as vital for modernizing Ghana’s infrastructure.

We have realised that a lot of people are interested in acquiring passports but the process is tedious. I intend to simplify this process, I have realised that the information requested is on the Ghana Card

What we will then do is to make people submit their Ghana Card and pay the fees, it will be simple, you will not fill any forms from 2025
