OPPONG NKRUMAH CHALLENGES MAHAMA: DEBATE BAWUMIA, DON’T JUST RECITE HYMNS

Vice Chairman of the Bawumia Manifesto Committee, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has accused NDC presidential candidate and former President John Dramani Mahama of exploiting citizens’ economic concerns without offering real solutions.

The accusation follows Mahama’s challenge to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to address five critical economic questions directly, rather than diverting with unrelated counter-questions or debate suggestions.

Speaking on Citi FM on Wednesday, October 30, Oppong Nkrumah criticized Mahama for failing to offer practical solutions to the pressing economic issues affecting Ghanaians.

Oppong Nkrumah argued that rather than merely reciting hymns and highlighting the country’s problems, Mahama should step forward with practical and actionable solutions to show he is genuinely prepared to lead. According to Oppong Nkrumah, pointing out issues without offering a roadmap for change does little to convince Ghanaians of Mahama’s ability to address the current economic challenges effectively.

He went on to emphasize the importance of a debate between the two candidates, contending that it would provide Ghanaians with a meaningful opportunity to assess which candidate has realistic and viable strategies to address the nation’s economic concerns. A debate, he suggested, would move beyond rhetoric, allowing each candidate to clearly outline their vision and proposed solutions for the future.

Oppong Nkrumah contended that participating in a meaningful debate would enable voters to clearly see the substantive differences in each candidate’s approach to governance. He argued that such a platform would not only showcase their contrasting visions but also reveal whose strategies are more grounded in practical solutions for Ghana’s pressing economic issues.

Mahama is going around the country shouting that the cost of living is high and inflation has gone to 54% and we all know the global cost of living is high and any class 4 boy who picks a phone and googles global cost-of-living crisis will get answers to why the cost of living has gone up all over the world including Ghana

But if you look into our manifesto and if you listen to Dr Bawumia, he has proposed solutions to the cost of living, solutions to transport fares, energy prices, and fuel prices. Mahama is going around the country, capitalising on people’s genuine concerns about these things and he has not offered a single solution

Dr Bawumia wants to sit down with him, debate and say to him in the face ‘These are the causes of the high cost of living and these are my solutions where are your solutions beyond going around and reciting rhymes like he is doing on the campaign trail,

he stated.
