In a press statement from Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer announced plans to speak directly to parents, students, and education stakeholders about his vision for creating opportunities and skills development for Ghanaian youth.
Set for November 10, 2024, the address will outline Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to strengthening and expanding the Free Senior High School (SHS) and Free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.
The statement notes Dr. Bawumia’s recognition of the widespread concerns among parents and students about the future of Free SHS, a program that has provided thousands of young Ghanaians with tuition-free access to secondary education.
“We understand how critical Free SHS is to families across Ghana. My commitment is not only to safeguard this initiative but also to broaden it to include skill-based learning for the youth,” Dr. Bawumia remarked in a recent discussion.
Aboagye, who released the official statement on November 6, 2024, highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s emphasis on equipping youth with practical skills, noting the NPP’s strong advocacy for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.
This upcoming address marks Dr. Bawumia’s second major engagement with the youth in recent weeks, signaling his focus on preparing them for a skills-driven future.
