Mrs. Samira Bawumia, wife of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and NPP flagbearer for the 2024 election, has pledged equal opportunities and inclusion for minority and marginalized communities under her husband’s leadership.
Speaking at the 12th Annual Conference of the Ghana Chapter of Tabital Pulaaku International, an organization for the Fulani community, Mrs. Bawumia emphasized the NPP government’s commitment to building an inclusive society. She urged the community to trust Dr. Bawumia to champion the interests of marginalized groups across Ghana.
Held in Ho, Volta Region, under the theme “Promoting Peaceful Coexistence and Fulbe Cultural Heritage,” the three-day conference gathered members of the Fulani community, a vital part of Ghana’s social and economic fabric. Mrs. Bawumia assured attendees that under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, opportunities in education and social support would be expanded for all.
“The Fulani community holds a unique place in Ghana, with invaluable contributions to agriculture, trade, and cultural diversity,” she noted. “Recognizing this heritage is crucial to our national identity. The New Patriotic Party, under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has consistently worked to ensure inclusivity, so every Ghanaian feels valued and represented.”
Mrs. Bawumia highlighted the government’s policies for minority groups, including the Fulani, and assured them that these initiatives would continue. “Our administration is committed to addressing the specific challenges faced by minority communities through comprehensive, inclusive policies. My husband, Dr. Bawumia, is a champion of social equity, prioritizing education and opportunities for all children, including Fulani youth.”
Additionally, she emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s focus on empowering women, including support for women entrepreneurs through funding initiatives.
“As we look to the future, our vision is for a Ghana where every ethnic group, including the Fulani, is recognized and valued,” she said. “The NPP government remains committed to fostering unity in diversity, creating a country where all voices are celebrated and every Ghanaian can contribute to our nation’s growth.”
Thousands of Fulani community members gathered at Ho’s Jubilee Park for the event, which featured cultural performances. Political figures and stakeholders were also in attendance, with Mrs. Bawumia serving as the special guest of honor. Community leaders expressed their hopes for more inclusive policies, particularly in education and skills development, to enhance their participation in national development.
