Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reaffirmed his faith in the Almighty God to direct human affairs and make all things possible.
After eight years as Vice President, Dr. Bawumia is now campaigning to serve Ghana as President, carrying the slogan “It is Possible” as a reflection of his strong faith in God. On Sunday, during a visit to a Catholic congregation in Atimatim, Afigya Kwabre East Constituency, he reaffirmed his belief, telling the gathering that “with God, all things are possible.”
Dr. Bawumia spoke about his journey toward the Presidency, which began last year when the NPP made history by electing him as its Presidential Candidate. He shared that each step is guided by God’s will, emphasizing his commitment to place his trust in God and seek His favor. Citing Psalm 127, he stated,
unless God builds the house, you labour in vain
underscoring his deep trust in the sovereignty of God.
Dr. Bawumia’s use of this profound Christian quote to affirm his faith in God’s guidance was met with applause from the congregation. As a Muslim, his reference to the Bible impressed many, highlighting his inclusive approach. His visit to the Catholic Church symbolically united members of the two major faiths in the country, bringing Christians and Muslims together under one roof.
Several Imams and Zongo Chiefs from the Constituency joined members of the clergy and traditional leaders at the church, where Dr. Bawumia addressed both community stakeholders and the congregation. The Imams, clergy, and traditional leaders expressed joy at this demonstration of tolerance and unity in the chapel, especially with the Imams present during the service.
Dr. Bawumia praised this harmonious gathering, noting that the presence of leaders from different religious groups together reflects the peace and unity that Ghanaians cherish.
There is peace and understanding between Muslims and Christians in Ghana, and it is one of the reasons we have stability
he remarked
It is beautiful to see Imams here in this chapel. This reflects our mutual understanding and respect for each other. You would rarely see this anywhere else in the world, but it is happening here in Ghana.
Dr. Bawumia encouraged everyone to continue living in harmony and to uphold mutual respect.
