The Omanhene of Essumeja, Odeneho Okyere Kusi Ntrama, has voiced his support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential ambitions, emphasizing unity and shared goals for Ghana’s future.
As part of Dr. Bawumia’s tour through the Ashanti Region on Monday, he visited the Bekwai Constituency to connect with traditional leaders, religious figures, and local stakeholders, sharing his policies and seeking their support.
In his address to Dr. Bawumia, Odeneho Okyere Kusi Ntrama, who also holds the title of Benkumhene of Asanteman, affirmed the community’s commitment. “We understand your mission here—to seek our support and earn our votes. Rest assured, we are with you, and we stand firmly behind you,” he declared.
While pledging his support, the Omanhene also highlighted key priorities, calling on Dr. Bawumia to address the community’s needs if elected.
“Take care of us, and we will reciprocate,” he urged, pointing to crucial areas like inner road improvements, a specialized hospital, and a university for the Amansie region.
The Omanhene further brought attention to the pressing issue of illegal mining (galamsey), encouraging Dr. Bawumia to partner with traditional leaders to tackle the challenge effectively.
In response, Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude for the chiefs’ and community stakeholders’ support, assuring them of his commitment to addressing their concerns. He underscored his accountability to the people, pledging to revisit and report on his progress if elected—a commitment he described as setting him apart from his main opponent.
Dr. Bawumia’s campaign has consistently focused on local engagement as he seeks to rally support for the December 2024 election.
