NPP WILL PRODUCE THE FIRST MUSLIM PRESIDENT – MAKAFUI WOANYAH

The Volta Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Makafui Woanyah, has conveyed his firm belief that, with the backing of the Ghanaian populace, his party will facilitate the election of the first Muslim President in the Fourth Republic.

Mr. Woanyah emphasized the nomination of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the NPP’s Presidential Candidate, describing it as a testament to the party’s dedication to inclusivity and social justice, values that are fundamental to the NPP Constitution.

While addressing the 12th Annual Conference of Tabitaal Pulaaku in Ho, which brought together Fulanis living in Ghana, Mr. Woanyah made this declaration.

After December 7th, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia will be sworn in as President, and Her Excellency Samira Bawumia will be the First Lady of Ghana.

NDC General Secretary Fifi Kwetey said no Muslim or Fulani could become President of Ghana, let alone a First Lady,” he recounted, further accusing the NDC of denying Fulanis the right to register as voters and access to the National Health Insurance Scheme and primary healthcare.

We witnessed the killing of 200 Fulanis under their government. We came to address these issues. Unlike the NDC’s record, our party’s constitution does not permit tribal discrimination.

Mr. Woanyah encouraged the Fulani people in Ghana to turn away from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), referencing the purported injustices experienced by their community, and to rally behind Dr. Bawumia, whom he characterized as a leader who embodies tolerance and inclusivity.

Additionally, he emphasized that by voting for Dr. Bawumia, who has ties to the Fulani community through marriage, the Fulani people would gain a more significant representation within the government.

On the ballot, look no further than No. 1. On January 7, [2025], your mother, sister, or daughter will become Ghana’s First Lady.
