Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his challenge to former President John Mahama to participate in a public debate regarding the achievements of their respective administrations.
Addressing party supporters in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency on Sunday, November 10, Dr. Bawumia responded to Mahama’s claim that his administration had surpassed the performance of the current NPP government.
Additionally, he criticized the NDC flagbearer for evading the debate, emphasizing that such a forum would allow Ghanaians to effectively assess the accomplishments and failures of both administrations.
During Mahama’s presidency, we endured frequent power outages, and he made the controversial decision to cancel allowances for teacher and nurse trainees, which worsened the situation. Things were tough for many Ghanaians. Now, after all that, he wants to make a comeback.
I have asked him to point to just one policy he implemented during his time as president that truly made a positive difference, but he has refused to answer. In my view, his record remains one of the poorest in the Fourth Republic.
If he [Mahama] believes his time in office was successful, he should step up to the challenge. I invited him to a debate, but he ran away—like a coward. He knows he can’t defend his record.
The flagbearer of the NPP is currently engaged in a 15-day tour of the Ashanti Region as the campaign for the forthcoming elections gains momentum.
He is appealing to the citizens of Ghana to dismiss the candidacy of former President John Mahama, asserting that the NPP’s exemplary track record positions it as the most capable party to enhance the well-being of the populace.
