BAWUMIA SHOULDN’T BE BLAMED FOR HAPPENINGS IN GOVERNMENT, HE’S JUST A DEPUTY – KUFUOR

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has come to the defense of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, arguing that it is unjust to place the blame for all of the ruling government’s shortcomings on his shoulders.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Kufuor pointed out that as Vice President, Bawumia’s primary role is to advise President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and that his powers are limited. The former President stressed that any failures in governance should ultimately be attributed to the President, as the chief decision-maker.

“Bawumia cannot be blamed for everything happening in government. He is merely the deputy and an advisor. The responsibility lies with the President, who makes the final decisions. I urge Ghanaians to give Bawumia a fair chance,” Kufuor said.

In addition to defending Bawumia, Kufuor also encouraged all eligible voters to actively participate in the upcoming December 2024 general elections, emphasizing the importance of civic engagement.

“I urge Ghanaians to vote for the party with the best track record. If you don’t vote, others will choose the leader you might not want,” he added.

Kufuor’s comments come amid growing criticism of Bawumia, particularly regarding his leadership of the Economic Management Team, with many critics blaming the country’s economic challenges on his management. The former President’s support could give a significant boost to Bawumia’s presidential ambitions as he aims to lead Ghana in the next election.
