Bernard Allotey Jacobs asserts that the declaration by Speaker Alban Bagbin regarding the vacancy of certain parliamentary seats was a strategic maneuver aimed at undermining the presidential candidacy of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He characterized the Speaker’s action as a “sinister move” intended to hinder Dr. Bawumia’s chances of success in the upcoming election on December 7.
The social commentator and former Central Regional Chairman of the NDC emphasized that the current parliamentary deadlock, which arose from the Speaker’s announcement, is merely a propaganda tactic designed to incite unrest as the election approaches.
There is a something underneath this decision that has been taken by the Speaker of Parliament. There is a devil in it and that devil is to use the constitution, thus, the Parliamentary system as a bullet to fire the current government; and in one way or the other, it is to create chaos and anarchy, but Ghanaians have reasons and surely, Ghanaians will reason.
Allotey Jacobs, while participating in the ‘Kokrokoo’ panel discussion on Peace FM, asserted with conviction that any attempts by the opposition party, including Speaker Bagbin, to undermine Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will ultimately be unsuccessful.
The time is up! As a nation, we need good leaders, visionary leaders, leaders who can think beyond the box to lead this country and that is why a lot of Ghanaians are supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. You cannot use these parliamentary wranglings to undermine the victory of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
