The NPP presidential candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, received a warm reception from a large crowd during his visit to Ejura while touring the Ejura-Sekyedumase Constituency on Wednesday.
Despite the historical dominance of the NDC in this constituency within the Ashanti Region, the NPP is resolute in its efforts to capture the seat from the NDC in the upcoming parliamentary elections on December 7.
The enthusiastic response from the constituents, who turned out in large numbers to support Dr. Bawumia, suggests that the NPP is poised to present a formidable challenge to their rivals, particularly the NDC.
Traditionally, the NDC has garnered substantial backing from the prominent Zongo and Muslim communities in Ejura. However, this time, these groups showed significant support for Dr. Bawumia during his community connect rally. The backing from local leaders, including traditional rulers, Imams, and Chiefs from the Zongo areas, as well as members of the Clergy, clearly indicated their endorsement of Dr. Bawumia’s presidential aspirations for 2025.
During the community connect event, the Clergy offered prayers for the Vice President and praised him for his considerable contributions to both the Zongo communities and Ejurama.
A significant endorsement for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP parliamentary candidate came from the Ejura Traditional Council, led by Barima Osei Hwediem II, who expressed unwavering support for him, citing the government’s numerous development initiatives benefiting the community and the nation at large.
The enthusiasm for Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy was further underscored by a group of young men and women, including several individuals believed to be former NDC supporters, who expressed their intention to vote for him on December 7.
It is evident that Dr. Bawumia’s selection as the NPP flagbearer has made a notable impact in Ejura and its surrounding areas, instilling concern within the ranks of the opposition NDC.
