“TRANSITIONING TO SOLAR ENERGY WILL BE A TOP PRIORITY FOR ME.” – BAWUMIA

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his commitment to exploring alternative methods of generating electricity to help lower living costs.

He highlighted that the current high production costs are a major factor driving up electricity prices.

During his campaign in the Asante Akim South constituency on Saturday, November 16, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that prioritizing a transition to solar energy will be central to his agenda.

As part of his campaign, Dr. Bawumia has consistently focused on key issues, including reducing the cost of living and improving the quality of life for Ghanaians.

He has promised, among other things, to support the growth of Ghanaian businesses and reduce the financial burden on households.

According to him, one of the key areas his government will address is the high cost of electricity.

Our electricity bill has increased and I want to introduce a policy to take care of that. The bill has increased because we import oil and gas to produce electricity. I thus want us to use solar power to generate electricity

The technology exists already and we have enough sunlight to produce solar power. I will create solar farms in all districts which will reduce the cost of electricity by 50%

Meanwhile, the Obogumanhene, Nana Owusu Ampehone, has praised the NPP government for its Free SHS policy.

The free SHS policy has come to help the chiefs and people of Asante Akim South. We only plead with Dr. Bawumia to construct our town roads when we vote for him

Obogu is a town located in the Asante Akim South constituency.
