The presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to eliminate taxes on mobile phone imports if elected to office.
While speaking to party supporters in the Nhyiaeso constituency, Dr. Bawumia stated that abolishing these taxes would enable Ghanaians to acquire mobile phones at more affordable prices.
Everybody wants a mobile phone. I am going to make the mobile phone prices come down, no taxes on mobile phone import,” he assured.
We are bringing down the import duty, we are eliminating the import duty on mobile phones so that the price of mobile phones will be affordable.
He also observed that the cost of data is expected to decrease.
We are going to bring down the cost of data for our youth so that you can make calls.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted that the Free SHS initiative has positioned Ghana as the third-best country in terms of quality education, while also contributing to a rise in secondary school enrollment.
