The Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, recently indicated a significant initiative aimed at Arabic instructors within the Zongo communities nationwide.
Alhaji Ben Abdallah Banda, who conveyed the Vice President’s message to these communities, stated,
If elected as President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will ensure that Arabic teachers in various communities are integrated into the Ghana Education Service, allowing them to receive proper compensation.
As part of his comprehensive solutions addressing various aspects of life, the Vice President announced the acquisition of land across all sixteen regions for the establishment of Islamic Senior High Schools.
During an event organized by the Greater Accra Nasara Wing of the NPP at the Kanda National Mosque in Accra, the Presidential Coordinator for Inner Cities and Zongos, Ben Abdallah Banda, captivated his audience while explaining why the NPP is a superior choice compared to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He provided a historical overview of the Arabic instruction program, noting that it was initiated by the NPP government but was discontinued in 2009 following the NDC’s assumption of power.
Under the current leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia, the NPP has reinstated the Arabic instructors’ program and made Arabic a subject of examination at the Junior High School (JHS) level.
The event was attended by Arabic instructors, Islamic leaders, and community heads. In discussing the commitment to the welfare of the Zongo communities, Ben Abdallah Banda asserted that the NPP far surpasses the opposition party in this regard.
He supported his claims with evidence, highlighting the leadership of both parties and concluding that the NPP can proudly point to the presence of Muslims in significant roles within the party and government, a claim the opposition cannot make.
Two Muslims who previously held leadership roles within the NDC have been demoted, he noted, emphasizing that this serves as clear evidence that the NPP prioritizes the interests of the Zongo communities more than the opposition does.
For the first time in the nation’s history, a Muslim has been appointed as the presidential candidate of one of the major political parties, he remarked. He mentioned that under the Vice President’s guidance, female Muslims have been sent to Cuba to pursue medical studies, enabling them to address health issues affecting women of their faith upon their return.
He urged Muslims to support the NPP, asserting that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would strive for the nation’s advancement. Aziz Futa, the National Coordinator of the Nasara Wing of the NPP, addressed the Arabic instructors, stating that the Zongo communities have received little in return for their unwavering support of the NDC over the years.
Let the Zongos cast their votes for the NPP and witness the distinction between the two parties.
Prominent speakers at the event included National Nasara Coordinator Aziz Futa; Alhaji Yusif Fofana, Government Spokesperson on Social Services; National Deputy Communications Officer Hajia Rabiatu; Greater Accra Regional Secretary Odarlai Parker; and guest speaker Ben Abdallah Banda, Coordinator for Zongo and Inner Cities Development.
The Arabic instructors expressed their profound appreciation to the NPP and praised the government’s Free Senior High School (SHS) initiative, which resonates with the Islamic principle of “IQRA,” meaning to read, recite, or proclaim.
