The Ashanti Regional branch of the NPP, under the leadership of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, commonly known as Chairman Wontumi, has left the opposition National Democratic Congress struggling as the December 7 elections approach.
Following the successful campaign tour of the region by the Vice President and NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Second Lady, Her Excellency Hajia Samira Bawumia, has initiated her series of vigorous engagements with voters in the area.
Arriving in the region today, the Second Lady commenced her campaign in the Offinso North Constituency, where she has been sharing the positive message of the NPP and her husband to enthusiastic supporters who gathered in large numbers to greet her.
The presence of the Second Lady has not only invigorated party supporters but has also intensified pressure on the opposition NDC, which appears to have lost its focus and resorted to “defeatist tactics of beating war drums.”
Mrs. Samira Bawumia is scheduled to spend four days in the region, visiting the constituencies of Offinso North, Atwima Nwabiagya, Ejisu, Oforikrom, Kwadaso, Afigya Sekyere, Suame, and Manhyia South.
There are strong indications that the ruling party is on track to meet its target of 85% voter turnout, largely due to the extensive campaign efforts led by the party’s regional leadership.
