EDUCATION HAS SEEN SIGNIFICANT TRANSFORMATION UNDER NPP – OSEI ADUTWUM

The Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for its significant advancements in the education sector of Ghana.

During the inauguration of 80 newly built educational facilities across the country, Dr. Adutwum highlighted the transformative measures that have been undertaken since the NPP assumed power in 2017.

He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing educational infrastructure and promoting academic excellence. The Minister characterized these infrastructure enhancements as essential to the NPP’s vision for national progress, emphasizing their importance in establishing equitable and effective learning environments.

We cannot educate 21st-century students in 19th-century buildings and expect 21st-century outcomes. It simply won’t work. The smiles on the faces of children today reflect the impact of these changes.

Dr. Adutwum also drew comparisons between Ghana’s present trajectory and the economic and educational successes of South Korea.

In 1960, Ghana’s per capita income was higher than South Korea’s. However, they took decisive steps by expanding secondary education in the 1960s and 1970s and investing in STEM education in the 1970s.

We are 50 years behind, but we have started, and the evidence will soon tell the story of Ghana’s STEM transformation.
