A recent study conducted by Professor Smart Sarpong, a Senior Researcher, has positioned Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ahead of former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
On Thursday, November 21, Professor Sarpong unveiled his conclusive findings regarding the upcoming December 7 elections, titled “Who Wins Elections 2024?”
The study anticipates a voter turnout of 81.4 percent for the presidential elections. According to the survey results, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is leading with 49.1%, while John Mahama follows with 45.8%.
Other candidates include Nana Kwame Bediako at 2.2% and Alan Kyeremateng at 1.2%. In terms of regional support, seven regions—Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Central, Eastern, North East, and Western—are identified as the primary contributors to the NPP’s 49.1% lead.
Conversely, nine regions, including Bono East, Greater Accra, Northern, Oti, Savanna, Upper East, Upper West, Volta, and Western North, are supporting the NDC’s 45.8%.
The research, however, suggests that the forthcoming elections may be influenced by various factors.
Won at the first round by ONLY one of the two leading political parties, with the NPP having a higher chance of clinching a first-round victory.
