The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, asserts that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) remarkable achievements in the education sector are unparalleled in the history of Ghana.
He specifically points to initiatives such as Free Senior High School (SHS), the promotion of STEM, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as key programs led by the Akufo-Addo administration in recent years.
Mr. Osei Mensah expressed these views during the inauguration of the Sewua STEM Academy in the Ashanti Region on Thursday, November 21.
He also reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring that its educational reforms are in line with global standards, particularly in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), to foster national development.
The current government has achieved remarkable success in education, introducing policies like Free SHS and promoting ICT, TVET, and STEM education for the benefit of the youth. It is unfortunate that some undermine these successes, but in this digital age, Ghana is fortunate to have a government focused on the future of our youth through STEM.
The Sewua STEM Academy, one of 89 educational institutions launched nationwide, is dedicated to enhancing STEM education at both primary and secondary school levels.
This modern facility features a three-story academic building, complemented by various additional structures designed to enrich the curriculum.
During the event, the Regional Minister encouraged Ghanaians to cast their votes in large numbers for the NPP candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
To continue the good work and bring more progress to the country.
The inauguration was met with considerable acclaim from both residents and local leaders, notably Nana Kwaku Sarkodie II, the Chief of Sewua, who commended the initiative as a significant enhancement for education in the region.
He further acknowledged the efforts of Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, praising him as one of the most distinguished education ministers in Ghana.
