Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on all stakeholders, especially the media, to actively contribute to maintaining peace in Ghana before, during, and after the 2024 elections.
Dr. Bawumia made this call on Thursday, November 28, during the signing of the 2024 peace pact in Accra. He highlighted the vital role of the media in shaping public discourse and ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
He urged journalists and media organizations to maintain impartiality, responsibility, and professionalism in their election coverage.
The Vice President also appealed to other stakeholders in the electoral process, including political parties, security agencies, and the electorate, to act in the spirit of peace and unity.
He emphasized that ensuring the peaceful conduct of the elections is a collective responsibility of all Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that Ghana would once again prove its resilience as a shining example of democracy in Africa.
He reassured the public that, with everyone’s commitment, the country would hold a peaceful, credible, and successful election in December 2024.
I am full of hope that all of us leaders and our followers will live up to the peace pact we’re going to sign today and I encourage the security agencies who are doing an excellent job and the media and all stakeholders to do all they can to ensure and preserve the peace
