COMPETENCE, NOT RELIGION, SHOULD BE KEY TO VOTING FOR DR. BAWUMIA – SAFO ADWOA

The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has called upon Ghanaians to select a candidate for the upcoming four-year term based on their qualifications rather than their religious beliefs.

Speaking to an enthusiastic audience at Effiduase-Asokore in the Ashanti Region during a Dr. Bawumia Youth Connect campaign, the former Deputy Majority Leader asserted that the capabilities demonstrated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, significantly surpass those of his rivals.

She encouraged the electorate to cast their votes in large numbers for the Vice President of Ghana. She highlighted the importance of unity and the necessity of supporting competent leaders, regardless of their religious affiliations.

I keep hearing on the airwaves that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a Muslim, so he should not be given power. Hoot at anyone who comes here to engage in that propaganda!

Adwoa Safo emphasized to the eager audience that the common Abrahamic foundations of Christianity and Islam should serve as a reminder that religious differences ought not to create divisions among Ghanaians.

Christianity and Islam both trace their roots to Abraham, the father of Isaac and Ishmael. Despite having different mothers, Sarah and Hagar, we all come from the same source.

Dr. Bawumia was characterized by her as a leader with a demonstrated history of success, possessing the ability to guide Ghana towards enhanced development.

In her call for unity and endorsement of competent leaders, Adwoa Safo conveyed her confidence in the NPP’s prospects for the forthcoming general elections in December 2024.

The crowd I see here gives me hope that we have already won. Today, I speak to the youth, women of Effiduase-Asokore, and the entire Ghanaian population. This election is about your future.

Women and children make up over 52% of the population. Let us throw our support behind Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Ayew Afriye. My father, Prophet Kwadwo Safo, once said if you want a church to stand the test of time, you need the support of women. The same applies here; women must stand firm with our incoming president.

Adwoa Safo expressed confidence to the party members that Dr. Bawumia would place a strong emphasis on women’s empowerment by allocating funds to assist in the development of their enterprises.

He is a man of possibilities. He has proven time and again that where there is no way, by the grace of God, he will make a way.

She expressed criticism towards the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) by drawing parallels with previous administrations, highlighting their skepticism regarding the viability of significant policies.

When then-President Kufuor discovered crude oil, the NDC called it palm kernel oil. They said Free SHS was impossible, yet we delivered it. The NDC is a party of impossibilities, while the NPP delivers results.

She also emphasized the achievements of NPP initiatives, such as the provision of free maternal healthcare, the implementation of Free Senior High School (SHS) education, and the promotion of skills development through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The beneficiaries of these programmes are proof of our commitment to the future of this nation.

The lawmaker for Dome-Kwabenya urged the constituents to support the re-election of Dr. Ayew Afriye as the parliamentary candidate for the region, commending his outstanding contributions in Parliament.

Dr. Ayew Afriye’s sterling performance in the 8th Parliament deserves another term. Let us not disappoint him.
