MATTHEW OPOKU PREMPEH PROMISES LOCAL MANUFACTURING OF DIALYSIS CONSUMABLES

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has announced intentions to create local industries for the production of dialysis consumables and reagents.

This initiative seeks to lower the expenses associated with kidney disease treatment in Ghana and forms a component of the NPP’s comprehensive strategy to improve healthcare services.

During a visit to the Renal Department of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Prempeh indicated that the government is currently in discussions with manufacturers of dialysis-related products to investigate possible collaborations.

The establishment of these industries will not only make dialysis treatment more affordable but will also create jobs and position Ghana as a hub for the production of medical consumables.

Dr. Prempeh emphasized the achievements of the NPP government in the healthcare sector, pointing to the current development of 111 hospitals as part of the Agenda 111 initiative, which serves as a testament to their commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure across the country.

Our government remains committed to ensuring quality healthcare for all Ghanaians.

The move to manufacture dialysis consumables locally is another step toward achieving this goal.

The NPP intends to utilize the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to create state-of-the-art facilities for the production of dialysis consumables.

This initiative is anticipated to enhance the local economy while tackling the elevated expenses associated with renal treatments. This declaration comes in the wake of the government’s implementation of complimentary dialysis treatment for renal patients, which began on December 1, 2024.
