The Second Lady of Ghana, Samira Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to cast their votes in large numbers for her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, in the upcoming December 2024 general elections.
Speaking to NPP supporters at Effiakuma Zongo in Takoradi on Saturday, August 17, 2024, ahead of the party’s manifesto launch, she expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s potential presidency, promising significant improvements for Ghana.

She also emphasized the various social initiatives introduced by the Akufo-Addo government, showing faith that these programs will continue to thrive under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.
Reflecting on her own background in a Zongo community, the Second Lady shared how education changed her life, particularly highlighting the impact of the government’s free senior high school policy.
I grew up in the Zongo, and without education, I wouldn’t be where I am today,
she remarked.
