AFRAM PLAINS CHIEFS AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS ENDORSE NPP

Chiefs and religious leaders in the Afram Plains of the Eastern Region have decided to shift their voting patterns for the upcoming December 7, 2024 elections.

This change comes from their belief that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a party they have long supported, has done little to improve their living conditions.

They acknowledged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has shown a strong commitment to addressing their development needs, despite receiving minimal electoral support in the past.

During a durbar in Donkorkrom on October 9, 2024, to welcome Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and his team, chiefs, religious leaders, and representatives from various groups praised the social and infrastructural initiatives the NPP has introduced in the area, which they believe surpass those of the NDC.

Community leaders like Nana Akuamoa Boateng Tano II, chief of Atakora; Alhaji Fuseini Osman, Chief Imam of Donkorkrom; and Rev. Dr. Caleb Daribi, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches in Afram Plains, collectively noted that despite over 32 years of strong support for the NDC, the region has seen limited progress under their governance.

They expressed gratitude to the ruling NPP, highlighting initiatives such as the digitization of public services, Free Senior High School (SHS) education, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Agenda 111, electricity expansion, ongoing roadworks, and the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP) machinery, all of which have greatly benefited the community.

As a result, they urged residents to vote for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the party’s parliamentary candidates for Afram Plains North and South constituencies, Asiamah Anim and Jacob Zineyele, to ensure the continuation of these positive developments.

They also pointed out that even if the Member of Parliament had spent her entire common fund over the past 20 years, it would not be enough to cover the cost of a single DRIP machine.

Widely known as NAPO, he reflected on his tenure as Energy Minister, during which he oversaw the extension of electricity to 35 communities in the Afram Plains region, along with several other infrastructure projects implemented by the NPP government.

He encouraged the residents of Afram Plains to trust the NPP in the upcoming December 7 elections, assuring them that the party would deliver on its promises to the community.
