The Omanhene of Akomadan, Nana Boakye Akuamoah Boateng II, has lauded the Vice President and NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his compassion and dedication to helping the underprivileged in society.
During Dr. Bawumia’s campaign visit to Akomadan in the Offinso North Constituency of the Ashanti Region, the Omanhene shared a touching story from a few years ago, recounting how Dr. Bawumia brought him to tears with an act of kindness. Moved by a documentary detailing the difficult life of an 82-year-old abandoned leper living in a dilapidated mud house with her granddaughter near Wa, Dr. Bawumia stepped in to build a new home for her in Motori, a village in the Wa West District.
Reflecting on this gesture, the Omanhene shared his emotional response, telling Dr. Bawumia, “What kind of a man are you?” He continued, “I shed tears when Dr. Bawumia rescued this poor woman from such hardship. He saw her struggle and took it upon himself to provide a decent home. That, to me, is true leadership.”
The Omanhene further praised Dr. Bawumia’s continued acts of kindness, noting that the Vice President often celebrates his birthday with lepers, sharing meals with them and showing them care. “What kind of a man is this? It’s rare to find someone so genuinely compassionate,” he remarked.
Beyond these humanitarian gestures, the Omanhene also acknowledged Dr. Bawumia’s intelligence and forward-thinking approach. “He is not only compassionate but also knowledgeable and visionary,” he concluded, expressing confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s qualities as a leader who can guide the country forward.
